Body Mass Index (BMI)

BMI is a ratio of weight to height that is strongly correlated to body fat percentage.

The BMI is used to assess status of overweight and obesity, health risk, and to evaluate body weight changes.

A higher BMI is associated with greater risk for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertention, stroke, gallbladder disease and other chronic illness.
